achievement. Research has proven that parent involvement encourages students to go to school more regularly. In the same research, it is shown that when parents are involved in their child's classroom and academics it boosts the student's self esteem, improves attitude towards school, less disobedience, and less inappropriate behavior. Their involvement also can motivate their student's desire to learn and receive higher grades.

In my classroom, there will be high parental involvement. There are many benefits for the children to have their parents being involved, so if it possible and manageable for the parents to be involved, I want them to be. Some ways I plan on doing this include: educating the parents on why their involvement can be so beneficial, having a line of communication open with all parents, encouraging reading and homework help at home, recommending parents to attend school events, and volunteering on field trips or any other kind of school activity. Both of my parents were heavily involved in my classrooms growing up and I absolutely loved it. I always looked forward to the days my mom would be in my art class helping and the days when my dad would volunteers for field trips. My parents were also very helpful at home with homework and projects. It was good to learn at such a young age that my parents will always be there to help me with what I need and to be my biggest cheerleaders when learning a more challenging subject. It will be my goal as a teacher to encourage parents to give the same support to their children to help them in their academics.
